Understanding Energy is EssentialTo understand some single aspects of energy is helpful. But it is much better to understand some relations between some aspects of energy.
In the 1970s I have seen man on the moon and a big energy crisis. The environmental debate in the first half of the 1980s was dominated by acid rain and countermeasures. Solar energy - power and heat - seemed to be a way into the future. The second half of the 1980s shown that nuclear energy is a threat - especially in badly designed nuclear reactors with sloppy operation guidelines.
Now we see wind power, solar power and biomass for energetical use. And we understand the benefits and the drawbacks of these energy "sources".
It is like driving into a traffic circle with 10 exits each showing off a warning sign - "Lane Ends", "Pavement Conditions", "Low Clearance", "Restricted Width", etc.
